Fiddler On The Roof

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF has been called the most beloved musical of all time. The storyline or FIDDLER ON THE ROOF was taken from a series of stories written by Sholem Aleichem in 1894 and titled TEVYE AND HIS DAUGHTERS. The show's title was inspired by a painting called "The Fiddler" by artist Marc Chagall who used the fiddler image in many of his paintings to depict survival and joy in a life that for the Jews could be very unbalanced and without certainty. The story depicts the hardships of life in Czarist Russia.
