About the Character
Sweeney Todd (aka barber Benjamin Barker) has escaped from an island prison where he was held after being falsely accused of a crime he did not commit. Believing that his wife is dead and his daughter taken by the man (Judge Turpin) who originally brought the charges against Barker, Mr. Todd set out to even the score slitting a lot of necks along the way.

Our costume for Mrs. Lovett is inspired by the one worn by Helena Bonham Carter in the film version of SWEENEY TODD. The costume has a dark patterned skirt with a ruffled bustle, distressed blouse and boned corset.
About the Character
Mrs. Lovett has lived a hard life of poverty and is reduced to selling her meat pies for a living. Ever resourceful, she finds a use for the bodies of those Sweeney releases from this earthly realm.

Beadle Bamford is Judge Turpin's enforcer. He acts as a constable, but in truth carries out the nefarious orders of Judge Turpin. A most unsavory character though he has a light hearted meeting with a harpsicord in Act II.

Mr. Pirelli is actually a former employee Benjamin Barker though he has now styled himself as the greatest barber in the world and given himself a phoney name as well. He attempts to blackmail his way into Sweeney's coffers but instead ends up being the first neck that Sweeney slits.

Toby is a young orphan who works first for Pirelli hawking his "miracle elixir" said to grow hair on almost anything. After Pirelli's disappearance, Toby begins working with Mrs. Lovett helping to advertise her "meat" pies, and professing that he will protect Mrs. Lovett from all the ills of the world.
