Thoroughly Modern Millie
THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE is the story of a young woman who leaves her home and family in the Midwest to move to the big city and make good. Millie Dillmount is a girl with a plan. The plan has two parts...#1 Get a job with a rich employer, and #2 marry that employer. Soon after arriving in the city, Millie is mugged and her purse, hat, scarf and one shoe are stolen. She then becomes involved with a seemingly good for nothing playboy. She moves into the Hotel Priscilla for women operated by Mrs. Meers, a shady character who is involved in the white slave trade. Millie meets Miss Dorothy who becomes her best friend, and they set out with the other residents of the hotel to experience the wild side of life in a Speakeasy to celebrate Millie landing a job. Millie and friends get arrested. They meet Muzzy van Hossmere, a well known singer and member of High Society. Love blooms for Millie and Miss Dorothy when they meet their future beaus. They manage with help of friends to foil Mrs. Meers' white slavery racket. All is well for Millie and her friends as another young woman arrives in the big city...
